Data Protection Day (known outside Europe as Data Privacy Day) is an international event that occurs every January 28th.
The purpose of Data Protection Day is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices. It is currently observed in 47 European countries as well as the United States, Canada, India.
The day was initiated by the Council of Europe:
On the occasion of Data Protection Day on 28 January 2019, the Committee of the Council of Europe´s data protection treaty "Convention 108" has published Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence and Data Protection . The guidelines aim to assist policy makers, artificial intelligence (AI) developers, manufacturers and service providers in ensuring that AI applications do not undermine the right to data protection.
Read the 2019 statement from the European Commission, quote "proud to have the strongest and most modern data protection rules in the world, which are becoming a global standard" .
And this year, the team at Bizoneo is happy to share a little data-protection "joke":
A newbie data-protection practitioner goes to the doctor.
"Doctor, I have sensitive personal data, can you help?"
"Have you shared your data with anyone new without using protection?"
